Sword
Deadwood, 2004
approx. 3 feet long
I'm not sure what kind of wood this is.
The tree it is carved from lived and died quietly
in the woods next to the road I used to live on.
Years passed and the wood seasoned while
standing until a storm blew it down, across the
road.
It was very light and I could see the worm holes,
so I figured it was too far gone and burned most of
the tree in a bonfire.
I noticed the unusual color and decided to keep a
couple of pieces.
I'm glad I did. It is the most colorful wood I've
ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice. The
finish was just clear Polycrylic, so all the color
you see was created by the tree itself.
